Even the Healthy Marriage Initiative makes the distinction between “healthy” and “unhealthy” relationships when discussing the benefits they need to determine. There are various employment benefits that are not available to married couples who file jointly. The idea of jimmying the lock on monogamy is not obsolete, even in the eyes of the law. Married couples often receive lower benefits from government programs than they would if they had not married. Or are you putting up with those dirty socks and nagging texts for nothing?
